1972, Zevika Salles of Natanya,
Israel married Helen Marchasin of San Francisco, California. Together
they started their own, small diamond company, ATLAS DIAMOND CO., INC.
Starting small, they saved and saved and slowly they prospered. In 1975
they had me, Benjamin Issasschar Salles. They didn't tell me then, but
as I found out, I too was going to work for ATLAS. Guess what I wound
up doing? Web-Sites and more. I can grade diamonds faster and more accurately
than any shmo from the GIA, I can deliver diamonds faster than any delivery
service, and I can sell more in ten minutes what any avergae salesman
can do in as many days. I run too fast for the Olympics, I out-think super-computers,
I weigh over 200 pounds and I can lift over 2000. I wrestle crocodiles
and play poker with alligators, I am exempt from the local laws, and I
earned my doctorate in two years. After inventing the trampoline, the
battery and two dozen versions of calculators, I studied and mastered
all forms of dance. I understand twelve languages and I'm learning thirteen
more. Other than that, I pretty much slowed down after my sister was born. |
| 1977. 22 months after my arrival,
something even better happened. My darling sister, Adina Rose Salles stopped
by. Apparently she liked it here on Earth, so she's been with us ever
since. (I never said she was born, I simply stated that she 'stopped by'
and liked Earth so much she decided to stay. Weird? Yes, but let's just
thank God that she called off the invasion.) Viciously beautiful and even
more so in intellect, Adina was the first step into the 21st century for
the Salles evolutionary line. For the first time, we have a Salles who
is both beautiful and intelligent. Previously, all Salles' were either
extremely gorgeous/handsome or radically advanced intellectually, never
both. |

1978. Atlas Diamond Company,
Inc. is five years old. So far so good. It's growing steadily and providing
for the family, what more would we have asked for? |

1997. Here we are at my parents'
25th Wedding Anniversary. We're still selling diamonds, and we're still
making enough to keep us fed and clothed. Atlas Diamond Company, Inc.
is a wonderous thing. A small family business that survived for almost
25 years and still has energy enough to keep kicking. Also, it's a great
place for us to poke fun at eachother on a slow day. |
This is the diamond-man for you:
